Who would have thought that growing up within a culture of taxi driving would be the creative inspiration for a research and arts project. Melbourne’s taxi entrepreneurs from Hadchit, North Lebanon are the influence behind Christine Eid’s ‘Transit’, a contemporary art exhibition. Exploring her history, Eid recorded the rich oral stories of this group of men, including her father, who migrated to Australia as part of the second wave of Lebanese migration (1949 – 1975). |
